    Training Teachers as Health Promoters

    In the context of the global changes that affect families and communities, including the current COVID-19 pandemic, today's young people face new threats to their health and most of them lack adequate nutrition, healthcare services and education. As children and adolescents spend a significant amount of their time at school (or remotely connected with teachers, as occurred in these last months of health emergency), educators have the great opportunity to positively contribute to their global growth, fostering physical, mental and social wellbeing, which has also a significant impact on students' academic achievements. Nowadays, training teachers as "health promoters" allows educational system to deal more effectively with health needs of the students, helping them in the prevention of risky behaviours (cigarette smoking, binge drinking, drug use etc). According to the recommendations provided by the World Health Organization and UNESCO, we highlight the need for pre-service and in-service teacher training on the major topics concerning young people health, as well as COVID-19 safety issues. Moreover, teachers should be trained on the most participatory and pro-active methodologies to effectively convey health-related contents in school setting, in order to trigger a personal interiorization of the knowledge acquired by the students, and to engage them in practical actions about healthy lifestyles (i.e. balanced nutrition and physical exercise, no smoking, no alcohol, no drugs). Teacher training on health topics enables educators to develop a new professional identity based on a health-centered vision, in the perspective of reducing social/health inequalities that still concern most disadvantaged children. Medical professionals and pedagogists could be appointed as available consultants respectively for training teachers on health contents and about the most effective didactic strategies useful for displaying educational interventions in school setting aimed at preventing unhealthy habits among young people. Health education should be included in scholastic curricula within scientific disciplines or treated as separate subject in extracurricular activities under direct responsibility of school staff

    An Integrated, Virtualized Joint Edge and Fog Computing System with Multi-RAT Convergence

    Notably, developing an innovative architectural network paradigm is essential to address the technical challenging of 5G applications' requirements in a unified platform. Forthcoming applications will provide a wide range ofnetworking, computing and storage capabilities closer to the endusers.In this context, the 5G-PPP Phase two project named "5GCORAL:A 5G Convergent Virtualized Radio Access Network Living at the Edge" aims at identifying and experimentally validating which are the key technology innovations allowing for the development of a convergent 5G multi-RAT access based on a virtualized Edge and Fog architecture being scalable, flexible and interoperable with other domains including transport, core network and distant Clouds. In 5G-CORAL, an architecture is proposed based on ETSI MEC and ETSI NFV frameworks in a unified platform. Then, a set of exemplary use cases benefiting from Edge and Fog networks in near proximity of the end-user are proposed for demonstration on top of connected car, shopping mall and high-speed train platforms.This work has been partially funded by the H2020 collaborative Europe/Taiwan research project 5G-CORAL (grant num. 761586

    Because of the increasing number of low-cost wireless applications, the unlicensed spectrum is quickly becoming a scarce resource. In voice-oriented wireless networks, such as, cellular systems, it has been shown that a relevant portion of the licensed spectrum is underused [1], thus yielding significant inefficiencies. A better performance can be obtained using new techniques, such as dynamic spectrum access (DSA), that allow a secondary network to exploit the white spaces in the licensed spectrum of a primary network, owing to cognitive capabilities. Most of the research activity on cognitive systems focuses on efficient spectrum utilization, in the realm of cellular systems.     Metal-Free on-Surface Photochemical Homocoupling of Terminal Alkynes

    On-surface synthesis involving the homocoupling of aryl-alkynes affords the buildup of bisacetylene derivatives directly at surfaces, which in turn may be further used as ingredients for the production of novel functional materials. Generally, homocoupling of terminal alkynes takes place by thermal activation of molecular precursors on metal surfaces. However, the interaction of alkynes with surface metal atoms often induces unwanted reaction pathways when thermal energy is provided to the system. In this contribution we report about light-induced metal-free homocoupling of terminal alkynes on highly oriented pyrolitic graphite (HOPG). The reaction occurred with high efficiency and selectivity within a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of aryl-alkynes and led to the generation of large domains of ordered butadiynyl derivatives. Such a photochemical uncatalyzed pathway represents an original approach in the field of topological C\u2013C coupling at the solid/liquid interface

    A long-range ordered array of copper tetrameric units embedded in an on-surface metal organic framework

    We report on the assembly of a highly ordered array of copper tetrameric clusters, coordinated into a metal-organic network. The ordered cluster array has been achieved by the deposition of tetrahydroxyquinone molecules on the Cu(111) surface at room temperature, and subsequent thermally activated dehydrogenation with the formation of tetraoxyquinone tetra-anions with a 4 x 4 periodicity. The supramolecular organic network acts as a spacer for the highly ordered two-dimensional network of copper tetramers at the very surface

    An Evolutionary Algorithm Approach to Stress Program Generation During Burn-In

    Safety-critical electronics components require thermal and electrical stress phases at the end of manufacturing test to screen weak devices. It is possible to optimize the stress induced during the screening phase of Burn-In by running in parallel different types of stress procedures. In previous works, stress procedures of CPU, RAM memory and FLASH memory have been interleaved using DMA and leveraging on instruction CACHE memory. This paper presents a novel approach for optimizing stress procedures at CPU level using an Evolutionary Algorithm. The evolutionary-based framework improves the stress of the CPU procedure when it runs in presence of a parallel stress schema. The manuscript also reports the results gathered by exploiting the evolutionary strategy in a device used in common automotive systems
